WE HAVE HAD A GREAT (UNEXPECTED) 4 DAY WEEK IN YEAR 2! A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR
FAMILIES BEING SO UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORTING PUPILS WITH HOME LEARNING WHERE
POSSIBLE.
THIS WEEK IN MATHS, WE HAVE STARTED OUR ‘ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION’ TOPIC. WE BEGAN
BY RECAPPING OUR NUMBER BONDS TO 10 (TWO NUMBERS THAT ADD TOGETHER TO MAKE TEN).
WE THEN USED OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THESE TO CREATE SOME FACT FAMILIES. NEXT WEEK, WE
WILL BE USING OUR KNOWLEDGE OF NUMBER BONDS TO TEN TO HELP US WITH OUR BONDS TO
100.
IN OUR ENGLISH LESSONS THIS WEEK WE WERE EXCITED TO PLAN AND BEGIN WRITING OUR
OWN WARNING STORY. WE TRIED TO BE REFLECTIVE JUST LIKE BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY AND RE-
READ OUR SENTENCES AND EDIT USING OUR GREEN PEN.
IN GEOGRAPHY THIS WEEK WE COMPARED THE CITIES OF LEEDS & KOLKATA AND AN INDIAN
VILLAGE & THE ENGLISH COUNTYSIDE. WE IDENTIFIED SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES OF BOTH
AND THEN ANSWERED ‘I NOTICE, I WONDER, I THINK’ QUESTIONS. WE THEN WORKED IN SMALL
GROUPS TO PRESENT HOW WE KNEW A CITY WAS A CITY AND A VILLAGE, A VILLAGE BY
IDENTIFYING GEOGRAPHICAL HUMAN & PHYSICAL FEATURES.
I WILL LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU ALL IN NEXT WEEKS PARENT CONSULTATIONS.
Poetry is used all around the world as an important way to express how people are feeling and it is a great way of storytelling.
National Poetry Day 2024 was celebrated today and is a day to highlight the impact poetry has on people’s lives.
Each year has a different theme, and this year’s theme is ‘counting’. In 2C we worked in small group to recite and add actions to some short and fun poems and rhymes…
WHAT ANOTHER BUSY YET EXCITING WEEK WE HAVE HAD IN 2C THE CHILDREN HAVE
CONTINUED TO IMPRESS US THIS WEEK AND ARE QUICKLY SETTLING BACK INTO SCHOOL LIFE
AND THE YEAR 2 ROUTINES. THIS WEEK, OUR AUTUMN 2 TRIP TO LEEDS HAS GONE LIVE ON
PARENT PAY ALONG WITH OTHER VISITS HAPPENING THIS ACADEMIC YEAR.
THIS WEEK IN MATHS, WE HAVE CONTINUED OUR PLACE VALUE TOPIC. WE HAVE BEEN USING
NUMBER LINES TO 100 WITH INTERVALS OF TEN AND ONE TO PLACE AND ESTIMATE NUMBERS. WE
ALSO BEGAN COMPARING OBJECTS BEFORE MOVING ON TO COMPARING AND ORDERING
NUMBERS NEXT WEEK.
IN ENGLISH THIS WEEK, WE HAVE WRITTEN AN INNOVATED VERSION OF ‘KASSIM AND THE
DRAGON’ USING THE STORY MAP WE WORKED ON LAST WEEK. NEXT WEEK WE WILL USING

IN SCIENCE THIS WEEK, WE LEARNT ABOUT ANIMALS AND HOW THEY ADAPT TO THEIR
ENVIRONMENTS . WE LOOKED CLOSELY AT A POLAR BEAR AND A CAMEL AND DISCUSSED HOW
THEIR FEATURES HELP THEM SURVIVE. DID YOU KNOW A CAMEL HAS A 3RD EYELID TO PROTECT
IT’S EYES FROM THE SUN AND THE SAND?
THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT THIRD WEEK WITH THE CHILDREN AND THEY ARE SETTLING IN WELL.

RESPECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT.
WE ARE STILL EXPLORING PLACE VALUE AND HAVE BEEN WORKING ON PARTITIONING NUMBERS
IN DIFFERENT WAYS. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN REVISITING NUMBER BONDS TO 10 AND 20. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO PRACTISE NUMBERS BONDS AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD THIS WOULD HELP SUPPORT
THEIR LEARNING IN SCHOOL E.G. 8+2=10, 7+3=10, 15+5=20, 17+3=20, 19+1=20
IN ENGLISH, THE CHILDREN HAVE BEEN EXPLORING THE VOCABULARY OF THE TEXT. THEY ARE
BEGINNING TO INNOVATE THE STORY WITH THEIR OWN IDEAS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO
NEXT WEEK THROUGH SHARED WRITING. THEY ARE BEGINNING TO USE CONJUNCTIONS AND
ADJECTIVES TO ADD DETAIL TO THEIR WRITING.
